Two cups of coffee I am pouring…

Did you know if you put some kosher salt in your coffee grounds (about 1/4 teaspoon for 6 cups of coffee) the bitterness of the coffee disappears? It is kind of awesome. Corelyn and I did it this weekend, and the coffee had no edge — which means it goes down like watah! Which, ultimately, means that I can drink more coffee. Hoorah!

Hey Katie…

…you really look great tonight…you color up my life!

What up, guys? It’s Kate’s birthday. I gab about her all the time, and how awesome she is, and how she’d cut a bitch if I needed her too, but also could copy edit your book into a masterpiece. She’s shiny, pretty, funny, and makes a good sandwich and a good vodka tonic.

Happy Birthday, Katie. I miss you. Your present(s) is on its way. In the meantime, please enjoy this joke:

A blond woman calls her boyfriend, and says, “Hey, can you come over and help me do this puzzle? It’s really hard.” The boyfriend says, “Sure, what is it a puzzle of?” The girlfriend says, “It’s supposed to be a tiger, it says.”

So the boyfriend goes over, sees the pieces scattered all over the table, and says, “Oh hun. First of all, this is never going to resemble a tiger. Secondly, let’s grab a cup of coffee and I’ll help you put the frosted flakes back in the box.”

I love you, sorella. Enjoy your day.

Happy Birthday to Liz!

This is my friend Liz. It’s her birthday, today. This is her at her wedding, obviously. She’s pretty down to Earth, as you can see. Cool as a cucumber, she keeps me calm at work, she entertains me at events, and she coaches with me on the weekends, making five year old soccer that much more bearable. She’s funny, she’s smart, she is great to work with. Basically, she’s downright delightful.

Also, she blogs. Please check her out. She’s a better cook than I am, for sure, and I strive to be more like her in that way. If you’re ever in Southern California, you’ll have to stop by and hang out with her, and me, and she’ll give you tips on fine French cooking and delicious wine.

Happy Birthday to a great friend, and Happy Friday to the rest of you!!

Sunny Five Good Things.

1. It’s nearly Friday.

2. Last night I biked 1.5 miles more than I had Monday night, up to 11 miles, in the same amount of time (thirty minutes.) (And I biked to the gym, which seems a little silly, but I did — so that’s another mile!)

3. Tomorrow is my coworker/friend Liz’s birthday. Which means we will be doing a little less work, and a little more play, and means there will be treats.

4. This weekend holds: shopping with Corelyn, reading the book club book, soccer, baking, cooking, sunshine, and love.

5. I got three pairs of new shoes for $11 (after trading in some other shoes.)  Two of those pairs are for weddings, and are fancy.

How are all of you, chicks? Staying busy, like me? Expect some epic posts this weekend about baking/cooking and maybe about life, too!

All I heard was "Rory" and "Chilton" and "Get down here."

So in case you never knew this about me, I love Gilmore Girls. Since it started when I was a freshman in high school, and Rory was a sophomore (but going to a new school) and because Rory was a journalist geek, I totally related to her character. Because of this, I will do many an embarassing thing to remind myself of Gilmore Girls and all its glory, like quoting episodes at embarassing moments. I also saw Paris once at a diner, but that’s a story for another time.

Well, my girlfriends Caitlin and Traci and I have been meaning to go to Chilton FOREVER, since it’s right down the road from me and since we love any excuse to take pictures and talk about television shows we love. So today, we headed to Mel’s diner, grabbed brunch, and proceeded to Greystone Mansion, where they shot the exteriors (and some interiors) of Chilton, the fictional prep school in Gilmore Girls.

Here are a select few photos.
