5gts: Friday before Halloween Edition

1. Today I am dressed as one of my coworkers, who I told last year I would dress as. He came up to me today and said, “So are you dressed like me?” (I was.)

2. Tomorrow I am going to be dressed as Alexander. I have a red wig. I have some fake gum to put in my hair. I got the book from the library. CC is going to be Harold. We’re set to go.

3. Someone brought us a pumpkin pie today. The small children are dressed up, and there is a Halloween Party on the field. I love working at a school.

4. Speaking of working at a school, and libraries, today I went and used my library card at the school library for the first time. I have a month to read the books I got out, and there is no limit on the number of books staff check out. Cannery Row, Tortilla Flat, and Sweet Thursday, here I come!

5. Despite missing yoga Tuesday (slow carpool…) I will be going tonight, before CRAFT NIGHT. What, my friends, is better than Craft night, you ask? Nothing, my friends, nothing.

What are you doing this Halloween weekend?

Dear Mr. McCance:

You may not understand homosexuals. You may not agree with them. But you’ve gotta stop bullying them. Are you joking me? You’d disown your children because they were gay? This is the thing you’d disown them over? And you come from a good “Christian” family but you call on homosexual teens to commit suicide? Are.you.joking.me? For you, who may not understand general Internet-speak, the periods between my words are me pausing, for emphasis that your comment on Facebook was one of the stupidest, most disrespectful, insensitive, disgusting things I’ve ever read. You should be ashamed. I thank God you’re resigning from your position on the school board, and that you’ve apologized, but you have to, as my mother would say, do some real soul searching. Because you seem to be a little confused by what the word “Christian” means. You should really spend some time trying to figure it out.

I’ll wait. (and so will the rest of the country.)

Personal Energy Meter

I took this personal energy meter test online at NatGeo, and this is how I did:

In the Home: 0.77

Tip: A programmable thermostat can help you easily turn down energy use when you are away or asleep. For ideas on how to reduce your impact at home, visit the Great Energy Challenge Mini Calculators.

On the Road: 5.546

Tip: Use mass transit, ride sharing or a bicycle at least a couple days a week to cut down energy while commuting. For a month-by-month plan to slim down your carbon emissions on the road, in the home, and for everyday living, visit our Energy Diet.

Renewable Energy: 0%

Tip: See if your utility allows you to purchase solar or wind energy for a portion of your electricity use.

In the Air: 1.349

Tip: Consider taking a train instead of a plane for shorter trips.

Apparently, I scored 8 percent lower than the regional average and 23 percent lower than the national average…

How will you do?
