she’s an uptown, get-around anything goes girl.

5gts, Matchbox Twenty new-album style.

1. North comes out on September 4. Pre-ordered.

2. Pie contest plans in the works. Lemon-chocolate pie, here I come.

3. Fed 80 homeless men and women last night at a dinner sponsored by work. My job is pretty awesome, and partnering with PATH was cool, too. We planned the menu, cooked, and served, and it was a great feeling to know that we were helping!

4. 5k on Saturday morning. Practice 5k two minutes faster than my previous 5k. Here’s to bigger, better races.

5. Beach Day on Monday. Summer may be coming to a close, but we’re not going down without a fight.

5gts: Coffee + Friends

1. Tomorrow Becca and I are headed to Altadena to participate in a coffee roasting class at the Institute of Domestic Technology.

2.  On Sunday, I am headed here with Kelly and Aaron and Jeff to try our hand at climbing again and enjoy some sun…

3. Headed to a new restaurant tonight to support friends, and have some good laughs. (Three co-worker events this weekend, and excited for all of them!)

4. Among the fall goals? Start meditating. Also, focusing on this list.

5. This video.

i know the song i’m singing is not your favorite kind

Rolling into Tuesday means rolling into a false-Friday; an early close and a day off to celebrate the fourth of the July.

I have several random things and thoughts that I figured I’d share.

1. This article is dabomb.com. Mainly because a) I fall into the busy trap and b) I also think that if I wrote 4-5 hours a day, that would be enough of my contribution to the world. Obviously not everyone can live that life, but I say why not strive?

2. In an effort to simmer it down, tonight I had a no-cook dinner (I put together a salad) after forty five minutes of serious yoga, and nearly caught up on my Bunheads. The show was created by Amy Sherman-Palladino, who also created Gilmore Girls. So far, Kelly Bishop has wooed me, as has Sutton Foster, and I can’t wait to see what’s coming up.

3. Jeff, Ellen, and I are running this 5k in September. Our eight week training starts next week, and since I haven’t run really this year, we’re starting from scratch. Wish us luck.

4. We got a new Ork poster, and now have three in our house (one of Michigan, too!)

5.  Today is my parent’s 29th wedding anniversary (happy day, mom + dad!) Here is the video we made for their 25th Anniversary.

Mom and Dad’s 25 Wedding Anniversary Video from Jennie Palluzzi on Vimeo.

Up this week: 4th of July spiral hot dogs, friends, pools, polenta, maybe a cake or two.

What are you up to for the fourth?

if nothing else, i am myself/it’s all i have to give

This is the view from the beach last weekend. There is sand in every bag that’s been in my car in the past two weeks. There is probably sand in my bed, on my floors, in the cracks of tiles in my kitchen. And I love it.

This is the iced coffee I’ve been sipping for the past three weeks. This week we’ve had no marine layer, no June Gloom, just sun as far as you can see until eight forty five each night.

This is the wrap I got from Cafe Gratitude this week. It was called, “I AM HAPPY” and I was and I am. Becca said it was the best food she’d ever had, and I must say between the company and the food and the warmth of the restaurant, it was definitely on top of my list.

This is a list of the vegetables currently in my house. I love summer, I love stone fruit season, I love avocados that are five for two dollars, and I love the farmer’s market.

This CD. On repeat. You’d better watch it, I think that girl’s insane…

5gts: Birthday edition.

1. This post from Ms. Mary. She’s the best, and I love that our birthdays are so close together!

2. Jeff got me an Instax camera for my birthday after I lusted after Mary’s.

Now I’ll have my own instant photos!!

3. Birthday bonfire = success. Pictures to come, but I had an excellent time running amok at the beach with twenty of my best friends.

4.Melissa cross stitched this for me. Because she’s simply the best person.

5. My cards, on my memory board:
