saturday. sunday. monday. funday.

This weekend was:

saturday:

beach party. bonfire. laughing, smiling, photos, running, volleyball, soccer, frisbee, burgers. Grilling, smiling, burning, laughing, acting, practicing. love. twenty of my closest friends. you are all my favorite.

sunday:

driving, driving, driving. mountains, snow, what does the temperature gauge say?, going down, down, down. still too hot to ski. skiing in shorts, skiing in sports bras, skiing with my love, skiing in jackets, too hot. green circle, green circle, blue square, falling down, down, green circle, sunset. cocoa.

monday:

sleeping in, still up by 10. yoga with scott. namaste. break, he to basketball, I to my infinite dust bunnies, war to be waged. vacuum, vacuum, vacuum. Relax. M comes over, then TJ’s. Then Ralphs. Enchiladas. No photos, just us, making dinner…nothing to see…1.5 times a recipe, and still not enough for our hungry, hungry boys. J and S, I cannot believe the amount you consume. Still, leftovers for M and I, for lunches.

Field and fountain, moor and mountain…

Today is the Epiphany. The day the Magi reach the Baby Jesus. (It was a long way away, so give them a break!)

Today is ALSO my BFF’s birthday.

This is her and me on our last adventure (Lauren and Jennie do Cali’s Coastline 2010.) We’ve also adventured to Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Connecticut, New York City, Michigan, California, and Italia. I’m sure I am leaving some places, and states, out, but we adventure a lot.

We’ve been friends since we were nine, and I moved to Clinton, CT, and was placed in Lauren’s 4th grade class. She was shy. I was loud. We were on the same bus route. It worked out.

When Lauren turned 10, we had to sit in the third row at the movie theater because I forgot my glasses and couldn’t see the screen. We were seeing 101 Dalmatians. We had met only four months earlier. That, my friends, is true friendship.

15 years later, Lauren turns 25 today. We are still best friends. We still go on adventures. (We should, in fact, plan one soon, don’t you think?)

So Happy Birthday, Bestie. Hope you play Scrabble for both of us today!

Twenty ten: Winter.

We celebrated three years with a trip to Santa Barbra.

We hung out with Benny.

We got a food processor.

We went to the farmer’s market.

We had bonfires.

We said goodbye to our Christmas trees.

We took up tennis.

We went to a NBA game. We watched the kids we coach play on the court at half time.

We turned 24. (And 25. And 26, 27, 28.)

We hung out with Benny a little more.

While making PW recipes.

We did a puzzle.

M came to visit.

We coached. Three seasons.

We were counted.

We finished Everwood.

$5 Orange Marmalade: a lesson in not giving up.

Corelyn and I are almost there. Well, sort of. 10 weeks left, and the PW Challenge will be behind us.

Things that I’ve done lately for this challenge?

1. Bought corn syrup. Those of you who know me know this was a challenge in itself.

2. Bought $5 Orange Marmalade (the only kind at our grocery store without high fructose corn syrup.)

3. Agreed to make cinnamon rolls. On a weeknight. After hair cuts.

4. Asked the question, “Do you think we could make prune cake for Thanksgiving?”

5. Realized that yoga might not be cutting it anymore…

We’ll be glad when it’s past us, but the next 10 weeks will be difficult. Here goes nothing. Wish us luck.
