Twenty ten: Autumn

We finished what we started.

We learned how to throw dough.

We still have a lot to learn.

We had a visit from our soul sisters.

We learned how to be gluten free. We are still learning.

We celebrated our heritage.

I went to ranch camp. I killed a chicken.

We hiked the canyon.

We visited with Jeff’s parents.

We got a Volvo.

We decorated pumpkins. We got our faces painted.

We celebrated Halloween. We dressed as literary characters. (And mine workers.)

And paparazzo.

We voted. We won. We love California.

We gave thanks.

Melissa turned 25. She got a yellow kettle.

We got Christmas trees.

We decorated them.

We saw Needtobreathe.

We hosted a holiday party. We made creme brulee.

We hosted Yankee Swap.

We thought. We mused. We pondered.

We finished PW. We are champions.

Twenty ten: Summer.

These two got married.

We went climbing. In NH.

Then these two got married.

Got to see these guys.

We made dough when Ryan came to visit.

We made flag cake.

We hosted a giant beach party.

We celebrated our independence.

We had another bonfire.

Jeff got a Prius.

We got a dutch oven.

This girl came to visit again. And taught us how to make sushi.

We read Real Simple. We laughed.

We applauded the reunion of Lilith.

We hung in Chicago.

We visited with my MI girls.

We enjoyed some sunsets.

We had a pool party. With a camera. In the pool.

We photobombed.

We hiked.

We said goodbye to Corelyn’s car. And mine. And Becca’s. And Mary’s.

We celebrated 21 for this one, in Vegas. By bowling. In nice dresses.

M came. To stay.

We BBQed. We laughed.

Twenty ten: Spring.

I drove to meet my bff in San Francisco.

I took her home with me.

Her husband surprised her.

Before we cruise, we see Kirsten.

We cruise. We snorkel. We swim.

With Jeff’s family.

We go to Joshua Tree. We hike.

We climb big rocks.

We go to Chilton. We recreate scenes from Gilmore Girls.

We jump for joy.

We learn new tricks to cutting the acidity of coffee…

We grew things.

We sanded.

We baked. We built.

We piled into a van.

To hang out at a winery. For Mary’s birthday. In Malibu.

WE BBQed.

I love LA, OR: Why I don’t take the highway home…

Last night after being at J, B, and E’s for a bit, I took Santa Monica Blvd home. This way goes through a lot of LA neighborhoods, and thus I saw, in no particular order:

a building (an entire 12 story-plus building) wrapped like a Christmas tree; an city block of Beverly Hills decorated with scenes of Christmas; a building lighted to look like it was snowing; the whole of West Hollywood decked to the nines, including a hopping Wednesday-night party scene, and glowing neon lights at every block; more than five burger restaurants (not fast food ones, either); a woman putting her eye-liner on while waiting at a light; a crashed car lit up with a sign saying “Do Not Drive Drunk” above it in front of the West Hollywood Police Department; a myriad of houses with Christmas trees shining through their front windows.

Happy Christmas, LA.

Building wrapped as a present…
