H?W HARD CAN IT BE?

This weekend I got a button that says, “H?w Hard Can it Be?” And I love it.

plane

This is an airplane that my sister and I saw fly overhead at Dockweiler. Afterwards, she said, “So, um, is this beach perhaps by LAX?” Then she understood why people go to this beach only because you can have bonfires there.

My sister was here this weekend, which was amazingly fun. We did lots of excellent things, including buying buttons about peace, seeing the Chinese Theater, the Hollywood sign, Malibu, Santa Monica, and Dockweiler. We also ate: hot dogs, s’mores, Pinkberry, In-n-Out, Diddy Reese’s, and much more that was terrible for us.

It was an excellent time.

5 things I love about my sister:

1. She is low key. We can rock climb, or walk to the Stars in Hollywood, or watch HGTV. Whatever.
2. She can eat Diddy Reese’s after consuming four different appetizers. And not make me or herself feel bad about it.
3. She has mastered how to make a s’more in the micro.
4. She cooks excellent eggs, but cannot flip them.
5. She is hysterical, and apparently sounds just like me so sometimes I can take the credit.

My friend B’s friend K is here for the weekend. And multiple times, she said, “Man, I wish I had a sister.”

Well, I do. And she’s awesome. Man, I just wish my sister and I were neighbors.

How do you like your siblings, everyone?

Soldier, your friend, or your lover.

I love listening to Pandora. I am listening to a station called “New Year, New Me” and so far, so good. I haven’t updated in a bit, and I spent the last 2 days of my life reorganizing my closet, bookshelves, drawers, coffee table, and kitchen. It was a massive undertaking, and I missed my cousin’s facebook post of her engagement (which my parents BOTH mentioned, and said, “So you haven’t check facebook, then, huh?) but I’d like to think that I am in a better place for it.

Things I did:

1. Watched all the season 7 episodes of Gilmore Girls I hadn’t had a chance to see yet
2.Uuploaded to my computer AND facebook all the pictures of the past 4 or so social events that needed a camera
3. Threw away old receipts, pieces of paper with shopping lists on them, and some scribbled attempts of professing my love and asking Jeff for a favor in one breath sharpied on the back of an expired CVS coupon.
4. I also reorganized my shoes and thew 2 pairs out (including the red/purple/pink rubber clogs, SS would be happy to know.)
5. Cleaned all my sterling silver jewelry with some baking soda and tin foil and boiling water
6. Read the latest REAL SIMPLE magazine
7. Spent time cutting hearts out of red and purple paint samples for my East Coast ladies’ scrapbook.
8. Baked Jeff cookies for Valentine’s day
9. Cleaned out my bedside table’s drawer
10. Cleaned out every purse I own
11. Cleaned the bathroom.

Needless to say, I did a lot. And I am feeling better already.

Meanwhile, I’m sorry I haven’t posted in a while. That was uncalled for. I’m working on it!!

Veggies, veggies galore!

Alright. My first post is dedicated to finding out what veggies I can get Jeff, my “particular” boyfriend, to eat. I have decided that we both need more veg in our lives, and a good way to do that is sneak it into recipes that he likes already. Although, he’s caught onto this, so we’ll see how it goes. I’ve compiled a list of things we BOTH like, on account of the fact that some greens leave a unsavory taste in my mouth, too. (Like Cilantro. I can’t bring myself to like it.)

Carrots
Green Beans
Fresh Spinach
Peas
Lettuce
Tomatoes (in small sizes)
Peppers (also in small sizes)
Asparagus
Sugar snap peas
Edamame
Broccoli

In addition, I need to come up with a list of things we’ve yet to try for dinner. They include:

Squash
Artichoke
Beanshoots
Beets
Brussel sprouts
Cauliflower
Rhubarb

Tomorrow I am going to go to the farmer’s market and see what I can pick up in season. Wish me luck.

Fitting my life into lists

My friend K started a blog recently, and it really inspired me to start focusing on keeping my own blog (again.) It seems like every time I start a blog, I get distracted and can’t keep up. But now that I’ve returned from China, finished college, and started a 9-5 and am settling into my own little world in California, I have decided that I have time for a blog, indeed. K’s blog might be more interesting and focused, but mine is going to be full of the following:

1. Lists (starting right now. Sometimes they won’t be numbered, sometimes they’ll be lettered, sometimes they’ll be stream of consciousness, but they’ll be there.)

2. Things pertaining to cooking and baking

3. Rants/raves when I am frustrated with politics ( read = I can’t stand Sarah Palin OR John McCain)

4. Things pertaining to my friends back east/in the middle of the country

5. Notes about home life in general.

My goal, I think, is to entertain you and entertain me while gathering some life truths and some solid evidence of my progression through the world as a validated adult. I think that’s reasonable. Let’s begin.
