She paints me blue, she's a red star.

The conversation went like this:

“I really want a new iPod.”

“But you have an iPhone.”

“But I don’t want to drain my battery all the time.”

“Well get one.”

“I want an iPod shuffle.”

“So get one.”

“I want one of the old school ones, though, that had the click buttons. I don’t like the new ones without the click buttons.” (I’ve been known to lose headphones. And if you don’t have fancy headphones, it appears you cannot use the new one…shame.)

“So get one.”

“But I don’t need one. I shouldn’t spend the money.”

So Jeff got me two, instead. Used and new, one that might work, one that will work. (Turns out, they both work. This girl just became the proud owner of two patriotic second generation iPods.)

Meet my new iPod(s). There names are: “she paints me blue” and “she’s a red star.”

Bonus points if you can name the songs and artists of said names.

(Thank you Jeff, for delightful options and a new bff at the gym and in the car.)

Sunday is…

Sunday is:

Sleeping in. Coffee. Looking in an empty fridge, because June = travel. Cereal. Cleaning the kitchen, first. straighten the house. New garage springs. No more nearly being squashed by the door. Biking to the hardest yoga session I’ve ever been too. Circle of abs. Biking to my hair cut. “Do you sleep on this side of your head? Have you been stressed?” A fortune-telling hairdresser. Helmet on: bike home. Lunch. Tuna, because once again – fridge = empty. Tennis with Jeff. Lots of sunscreen. Shower, a second call, to ask, “Are you SURE you don’t need us to bring anything?” They didn’t. Cricket’s to a wonderful party. Vodka-cran, burger. BBQ chicken wings. Friends, laughing. Birthday presents = a presidential dog puzzle = perfect. New kitchen pot holders. Bookends for Jeffrey. A perfect day. Laughing. Smiling. Continuation of Saturday. Same friends, different day. Perfect day.

Talk of the rest of the summer. How quickly it will go.

Next up? BBQ at home. Later, chickadees.

Saturday is…

Saturday is:

Sunshine. Waking up early to go to Trader Joe’s. Basil from my plant. Making pasta salad, on the phone with my mom. Gossip. Coffee. Sunscreening around tan lines. Fifteen passenger vans. Fourteen friends. Malibu. Glee soundtrack. Wine. Lots of wine. Tire swings shaped like horses. Rustic picnic benches. Wine tastings. Adirondack chairs. In yellow. Friend trivia. Red wine. White wine. Rose wine. Flip cam. Nikon cam. Point and shoot cam. Film cam. Cheese. Pasta salad. Tuna salad. Fruit. Veggies. Occasionally, some water. Live music. Heart-to-heart’s. Walking to the top. Walking to the barrels, taking photos. Laughing. Smiling. Talking. Eating. Tanning. Chatting. Crying, a little.

Back in the van. Don’t Stop Believin’. Six hours, sunburnt. In all the right places. No more tan lines. Cake. With sprinkles. Rainbow kind. Happy Birthday. Chattering away. Dinner. Pizza. Water, water, water. Two boys jumping in a pool. Fully clothed. Apples to apples. Laughing until you cry. Ten o’clock. Hugs. Hugs. Hugs.

Good, good night.

Hey Katie…

…you really look great tonight…you color up my life!

What up, guys? It’s Kate’s birthday. I gab about her all the time, and how awesome she is, and how she’d cut a bitch if I needed her too, but also could copy edit your book into a masterpiece. She’s shiny, pretty, funny, and makes a good sandwich and a good vodka tonic.

Happy Birthday, Katie. I miss you. Your present(s) is on its way. In the meantime, please enjoy this joke:

A blond woman calls her boyfriend, and says, “Hey, can you come over and help me do this puzzle? It’s really hard.” The boyfriend says, “Sure, what is it a puzzle of?” The girlfriend says, “It’s supposed to be a tiger, it says.”

So the boyfriend goes over, sees the pieces scattered all over the table, and says, “Oh hun. First of all, this is never going to resemble a tiger. Secondly, let’s grab a cup of coffee and I’ll help you put the frosted flakes back in the box.”

I love you, sorella. Enjoy your day.

Sunny Five Good Things.

1. It’s nearly Friday.

2. Last night I biked 1.5 miles more than I had Monday night, up to 11 miles, in the same amount of time (thirty minutes.) (And I biked to the gym, which seems a little silly, but I did — so that’s another mile!)

3. Tomorrow is my coworker/friend Liz’s birthday. Which means we will be doing a little less work, and a little more play, and means there will be treats.

4. This weekend holds: shopping with Corelyn, reading the book club book, soccer, baking, cooking, sunshine, and love.

5. I got three pairs of new shoes for $11 (after trading in some other shoes.)  Two of those pairs are for weddings, and are fancy.

How are all of you, chicks? Staying busy, like me? Expect some epic posts this weekend about baking/cooking and maybe about life, too!
