Thanks to Mary + Jeff for the photos…check out the rest of Mary’s photos here.
We finished what we started.
We learned how to throw dough.
We still have a lot to learn.
We had a visit from our soul sisters.
We learned how to be gluten free. We are still learning.
We celebrated our heritage.
I went to ranch camp. I killed a chicken.
We hiked the canyon.
We visited with Jeff’s parents.
We got a Volvo.
We decorated pumpkins. We got our faces painted.
We celebrated Halloween. We dressed as literary characters. (And mine workers.)
And paparazzo.
We voted. We won. We love California.
We gave thanks.
Melissa turned 25. She got a yellow kettle.
We got Christmas trees.
We decorated them.
We saw Needtobreathe.
We hosted a holiday party. We made creme brulee.
We hosted Yankee Swap.
We thought. We mused. We pondered.
We finished PW. We are champions.
1. Today I am dressed as one of my coworkers, who I told last year I would dress as. He came up to me today and said, “So are you dressed like me?” (I was.)
2. Tomorrow I am going to be dressed as Alexander. I have a red wig. I have some fake gum to put in my hair. I got the book from the library. CC is going to be Harold. We’re set to go.
3. Someone brought us a pumpkin pie today. The small children are dressed up, and there is a Halloween Party on the field. I love working at a school.
4. Speaking of working at a school, and libraries, today I went and used my library card at the school library for the first time. I have a month to read the books I got out, and there is no limit on the number of books staff check out. Cannery Row, Tortilla Flat, and Sweet Thursday, here I come!
5. Despite missing yoga Tuesday (slow carpool…) I will be going tonight, before CRAFT NIGHT. What, my friends, is better than Craft night, you ask? Nothing, my friends, nothing.
What are you doing this Halloween weekend?
Every now and then…or every year…I like to dress up for Halloween. Last year, if you don’t remember, I was Sarah Palin, which was successful because Jeff was Joe Biden.
This year Corelyn and I put our thinking caps on, and decided to be goddesses. We were going to different parties, so we didn’t have to worry about being the same thing, but just in case we chose different goddesses. I was Aphrodite, and she Athena.
We hit Michael’s and Joann’s to get the crafts, and spent the better part of the afternoon and evening getting ourselves ready. It was one part prom, one part college party, and I loved every minute of it.
After having Becca ringlet both our heads, do both our makeup, and spending some time safety pinning gold to our dresses, we were ready.
Saturday event at work, running to soccer to coach a game in pearls, getting costume advice from a seven year old, home to go to Target, getting a new calendar board for the hallway, going to Office Depot for a new board for the kitchen with picture frames (one of you and me, SS), going to Staples to get myself a portfolio, home for lunch, talking to my brother for 30 minutes about algebra 2 and life, working on the website with Jeff, a brand new spice rack from Jeff (and the Home Depot) that we put up Saturday night, and bed early.
Sunday farmer’s market, home, breakfast of omelet with heirloom tomatoes and onion, polyurethane on our dining room table, grocery shopping (trader joe’s and ralph’s), home for another coat on the table (but not before sanding), pot roast in the crock pot, laundry at the laundromat, home to a finished pot roast, another coat of polyurethane (sanding, too), a second trip to Ralphs for pumpkins, dinner of pot roast, and then carved four pumpkins. Corelyn’s is looking up, mine looks down. They are friends.
Pictures to come.
Five good things:
1. Carved pumpkins
2. Heirloom tomatoes
3. Finished dining room table, FINALLY
4. A new calendar, and new spice rack for my new spiffy house
5. Updated blogs.
