to be her is surely blinding

Well friends, I did it! Today was my second 10K and, true to my previous post, I finished. And I PR’d (1:18:36, off a little more than 4 minutes from my last 10k, or about 42 second a mile)! No one stopped me for directions. And, I did get brunch afterwards, and Dunkin Donuts, and also a turkey sandwich for lunch later from our favorite Santa Monica sandwich spot.

Overall the race wasn’t too bad – the weather was beyond, my playlist was out of this world (Thanks Cor and Lauren!) and I was feeling it with all the running and yoga prep I did. Plus, being surrounded by other runners and supporters doesn’t hurt!

BIG thanks to Mike, who not only LET ME BORROW HIS SUNGLASSES FOR THE RACE (which is like, a really big deal here in the bright + beautiful LA) but also waited for us to finish, stood around while we got drinks/water, and also took a million photos for us!

More photos to come, but here are a few:

Love has surely shifted my way

After near-radio silence, I’m happy to announce we have a venue, and a date for the Hayford/Palluzzi wedding!

After much research, we’ve decided on Kinney Bungalow in Narragansett, RI.

kinney

I fell in love with this location when we were searching, because of its history, its name, its tie to the West Coast, its distance from the ocean, the fact that it is next to a farm…pretty much everything about it. I was happy to find it was free for September 27, 2014, our now-official wedding date!

Thank you to Lauren for actually heading to Rhode Island to check out the venue and confirm that she could see Jeff and I getting married here. Now comes the rest of the planning, details from the caterer to the dress to the flowers.

I am the worst wedding planner you guys, following in Nikki’s footsteps. Luckily I’ve had Corelyn and Jeff around (who are excellent planners) to keep me on task, and there has been emergency chocolate (sorry, Mary!) and movies and wine after both planning sessions.

I think now that we have a date and a venue, I will be on better behavior, and planning might even be fun from now on! No more lying on the floor proclaiming I am sending a proxy to get married to Jeff, or deciding that I don’t care where I get married, as long as it meets one hundred insane standards I’ve set for no reason.

Here goes nothing, everyone! (438 days to go!)

5gts: Birthday edition.

1. This post from Ms. Mary. She’s the best, and I love that our birthdays are so close together!

2. Jeff got me an Instax camera for my birthday after I lusted after Mary’s.

Now I’ll have my own instant photos!!

3. Birthday bonfire = success. Pictures to come, but I had an excellent time running amok at the beach with twenty of my best friends.

4.Melissa cross stitched this for me. Because she’s simply the best person.

5. My cards, on my memory board:

I said, “remember this moment”

Paso Robles, 5/27-28, 2012

Fancy dinner. Fancy wine. Laughing friends. A town green, a beautiful town, beautiful country. Photo shoots in the middle of the road. In the middle of nowhere. Coffee in three shades, wine in endless combinations. Tasting room at the top of the world. Olive oil to die for. Dogs, veterans, and “I don’t charge for tastings…how can you charge someone to taste something they’ll never had?” Turkey vultures, orioles, mockingbirds, wrens. Egrets. Checking the map, checking the guide, tours. Heart Castle, two pools, and more laughing. History before your eyes, both man made and natural. No zebra spotting, but oh, how we tried. Mistresses and celebrities, and stairs, and Andy, leading us through the kitchen. And oh, that kitchen. Industrial everything, and someday I want. Snacks in the car, the ocean, the sunshine, wheat in fields, orange birds, the best sandwiches ever, and more wine. Best friends, memories that’ll always be there, omelettes and coffee, always more coffee.

Thanks to Jeff for the photos…more here.
