5 good things: Wednesday

1. Did you know that it is June 23, which means we’re steadily on our way to July? Here we come, Mr. 4th. I hope to enjoy fireworks and corn on the cob.

2. Liz is out of the office, and while this is not a positive, I am going to take it as one by getting a Jamba Juice for lunch and reading the Book Club book for a whole hour at lunch.

3. Summer hours have started. Four o’clock = quittin’ time = home by 4:30 = bliss.

4. USA won today which means we’re advancing in the World Cup. Go, USA!!

5. Jeff’s brother, Ryan, is in town, and he’s absolutely delightful. I’m excited to show him the city this weekend, which is one of Jeff’s favorite past times. I think an ice cream sandwich might be on the table…

Books of 2009.

I wanted to read 50 books by the end of the year. It’s almost been 6 months, and I am sorely behind:

1. Illumination Night, Alice Hoffman

2. Montana Sky, Nora Roberts

3. Gonzalez and Daughter Trucking Company, Maria Amparo Escandon

4. Red Azalea, Anchee Min

5. A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, Betty Smith

Only 5!! This is terrible. But I am half-way through The Red Tent, and now that I’ve been riding the train, I can read more.

Wish me luck!

New Love Monday

1. The Fray’s new album, even though it’s self titled. (Which I, personally, think is tacky after CD 1.)

2. The fresh orange flowers on my desk, left over from an event on campus.

3. This new styled burger I made and ate this past Friday, which was delicious.

4. My new love of Eric Hutchinson.

5. New beginnings. New books finished. Like this one.
