Shopping for less: the fun way!

So, guys, this weekend when I was in Forks, I was climbing over a fallen tree (that was over a stream) in an attempt to get to the beach. I managed to make the hole that was already in my jeans a larger one. This was bad news bears, indeed. I then proceeded to wear the jeans the rest of the weekend, and now they are absolutely inappropriately ripped.

Because I wear jeans to work sometimes (yay working at a school!) I decided that owning only one pair was probably not going to work. So last night, after work, I set out to Ross (which, for those of you on the East Coast, is much like TJ Maxx) to try a new store out and hopefully get some jeans.

I had never been to Ross before, but my friends told me it was excellent. Well, boy, did I get lucky!! If you don’t mind sifting through the racks, which I usually don’t, you get lucky.

Maybe you didn’t know, but Ross is the best place, ever.

Purchases?

Nine West jeans that are $34.99 on their website (I got them for $19.99)

A pair of jean capris ($13.99, thank you.)

timberlandsTimberland shoes that are around $90.00 online (I got them for $16.99, and my sister hates them, as I thought she would.)

sandals

Simple Green Toe sandals, selling for $29.60 online. I got mine for $8.99 (Mine are a beige, instead of that green on the fabric.)

sneakers

Asic sneakers (although my stripe is blue, not green) that are going online for $64.95! Mine were $13.99. Excellent.

Overall, best day. I really needed new everyday sneakers, since mine are heavy duty and make me hot, and my feet need a break from dress shoes. I also needed another pair of sandals, since I live in LA and the forecast today is high of 77, and I only have 1 pair that doesn’t make my feet cry.

The slip on shoes will prove helpful when I am trying to head out somewhere with Jeff (grocery, Target, park, etc.) and it’s too cold for sandals but I don’t want to get my sneakers on. Sometimes, I am just that lazy.

AND I have some new sneakers that make me feel good, and with summer on the way, jean capris never hurt anyone.

Happy Almost-Spring, everyone.

Dream Post 10: Flying?

Last night I had a dream I could fly. It was awesome. I didn’t even need to run and jump, I could just fly. I was with some other people, and they could also fly. They were girls, but I don’t know who they were.

There was also a river of fire I was running from, and it helped that I could fly. It was strange.

It was a nice dream, though, because I could fly, but when I woke up I was dizzy.

Happy St. Paddy's Day

southieoldman

Being in Los Angeles this St. Patrick’s makes me homesick for the East, and for South Boston. Usually my St. Paddy’s day involves some form of a one Miss Katie and her fabulous Leprechaun boyfriend. And all the Irish friends that live about those parts.

I miss the cold, the layers, the Irish being proud of themselves (more so on this day than others) and the bars that are so clearly Irish. Oh, Solas, a night without you is sad this March 17.

Things I miss about the East, and St. Paddy’s day:

1. People calling you “lass”

2. “Top of the morning to ya” (“and the rest of the day to yourself,” which is the proper response.)

3. The Irish Blessing heard about the city (I am listening to bag pipes outside my window at work, so that’s OK.)

4. Green everwhere, signifying the beginning of Spring

5. Parades

6. Everyone discussing how they are Irish

7. Red Sox shirts everywhere (with a shamrock, or without, we’re pretty lenient)

8. Green dyed food (such as donuts at DD)

9. The word “wicked” thrown into every sentence (St. Paddy’s day, or not)

10. People who actually go to church on the Saints’ days.

Some quotes for you.

I was weeding through an old journal from college, and I thought I’d share these with you.
