A secret to tell you…

I am on the train, listening to Train, on my way to meet Corelyn so we can drive to see Hanson. I know, judge away.

Imma let you finish, but…

…as I write this I am sitting across from a kid with a dirty skateboard, black tapered jeans, a white t with a black hooded sweatshirt and dirty black sneakers. He has a side swept hair cut and is reading “A Heartbreaking Work of a Staggering Genius.” Periodically he pulls out an organic green tea and sips while pondering.

And I am the one your thinking about judging. Chew on that.

Damn two birds of a feather

I found out today that a friend from college passed away from cancer. He was one of those people everyone knew and most wanted to hang out with. He was in my study abroad program, and I remember many nights spent in the local bars with him as well as dozens of other American friends, dancing the nights away.

He was truly a shining star, and he will be missed by us all. Having him in my mind reminds me to have a love for life and to make what you do with your one and only really count. His life was so full of love, drive, and passion, and I can only hope to follow his lead.

It’s a reality check for me, to look around myself and see who I am, who I want to be, and what I value.

And I wanted to take a minute to tell you I value you, reader, for sticking with me. You keep me writing, which is what I really love. So thank you Matt, and thank you readers. You are both in my prayers.
