So cute, yes? Welcome to the family, kid. Get ready for an exciting, busy, fun-filled, bustling family — and life. We’re happy to have you!

Congratulations to Jim and Heather — so excited for you guys!

8/10/12 – 8/13/12: #30dayspositive

8/10/12: taking a moment to enjoy the blue sky when picking Jeff up from work.

8/11/12: spontaneous trip to Hollywood Forever Cemetery to see Terminator.

8/12/12: shark week begins. decide to watch this with some close friends. 🙂

8/13/12: instead of ordering out, eating every vegetable left in my fridge. better for mind, body, soul, wallet.

#30dayspositive

One of my yoga teachers, who I am sure I’ve talked about before, is doing this thing called 30 Days Positive. You can learn about it here, but it’s basically about losing the negativity and finding positivity in each and every day. Here’s my first eight days.

8/2/2012 – day one: went to Shark Week 25th Anniversary party. Ate a cupcake.

8/3/2012 – day two: found this of nikki and me…guess I have to update this one!

8/4/2012 – day three: beach day for myself, including crosswords and MVY Radio.

8/5/2012 – day four: gluten free blueberry pie.

8/6/2012 – day five: Yesterday I lost my keys, forgot to put butter in my pie, and got a piece of plastic stuck in garbage disposal. Jeff got the plastic out, the pie was delicious, and the Farmer’s Market called to tell me they have my keys. #30dayspositive. Win.

8/7/2012 – day six: laundry = done.

8/8/2012 – day seven: taking time to feed Jeff and I right.

8/9/2012 – day eight: second night of homemade meals, this time, Summer Vegetable Pasta with goat cheese.

Shark Week 25th Anniversary Party

This past Thursday, I had the honor of going to the 25th Anniversary Shark Week Party! It was such a fun event (sushi bar included!) and I had a blast seeing the sharks on the big screen and a sneak peek of what’s to come next Sunday!!

This was the DJ…floating over the pool. Pretty sweet, right?

This is the Volkswagen Beetle Shark Observation Cage.

Here it is in our sneak-peek in action. This bad boy drives across the bottom of the ocean floor…and I can’t wait to see more of it during Shark Week!

And here is a photo of me in the cage. I know you’re jealous.

Shark Week cupcakes. Love them, so much.

This is the screen that had shark footage projected on it during most of the party.

To give you an idea of how big the projection was…

This is a shark sculpted out of sand.

Can you believe that’s sand? I can’t, and I was THERE.

And here I am, on the shark carpet! This has definitely got me pumped for Shark Week, starting August 12. Only one more week!

19 miles later.

Since starting my 5k, I have trained the distance of 19 miles. I haven’t run the whole way, but I have steadily been increasing my run times, per my training schedule, and I am seeing a difference, which really is starting to excite me. I have gotten faster and I’m only on week four of the eight week program.

I even ran when in Chicago, once alone (dying through the humidity) and once with my sister and our dog (who I suspect could have run faster given the chance.) I suspect my first post-Chicago run will be even better than the two at home.

Other accomplishments include not gaining weight when I was home on vacation, coming home to a clean house, and managing to (almost) stay on top of my food-posts over at GMS.

Pictures to come from my trip from home, but for now I leave you one for delicious, NOT fried eggplant that I made in lieu of the usual fried eggplant we make when I’m home. Recipe to come on GMS sometime this week.

Do you worry about traveling when on a training or weight-loss program? How do you deal with rewarding yourself on vacation while not losing site of your goals?
