Chains required.

Last weekend we headed to Big Bear for our third annual ski trip. Chains were required to get up the mountain, which lead to a two hour trip taking more like four hours (maybe longer) and made our walkie talkies even more important to keep in contact. Once we were up the mountain, we had a great time – teaching Ana and Eric how to ski, eating tacos, tumbling down blue squares, singing, laughing, some of us heading to the hot tub….it was a trip to be remembered!

Thanks to Jeff, as always, for most of the photos, and more can be found here!

it’s like who am I and why am I here?

Happy New Year, everyone! I hope that the holidays have been good for you, healthy, full of food, and fun, and family, and friends!

Yesterday, Jeff and I celebrated our 6 Year Anniversary after enjoying First Night in Boston, watching fireworks over the wharf!

Then we bundled up and headed to the airport to head back to Los Angeles after a whirlwind weekend traveling from New Hampshire to New Jersey and back, with a stop in Boston for good measure. We saw most of Jeff’s family and K and T, too, which was a delight! Now we’re back in above-freezing temperatures, ready to tackle 2013 with gusto!

Keeping with tradition, I came up with a few goals this year to follow as life becomes busier (read: wedding planning) and more fun (read: married!) Most of my goals over the years have morphed into mantras: do the best with what you have. relax. breathe. love. do less, do less better.

So far this year, we’re headed to ski in February, my parents are coming to visit, Jeff is running a marathon, we are running a half-marathon together in June, and scattered throughout this year are endless weddings and celebrations of all kinds. I can already feel in my bones that this is going to be a good one.

So, with that in mind, here’s what I have for you as my wishes for 2013:

eat better
be healthy
pay attention to your surroundings
write it down
love, and be loved.

Hope you’ve got big plans for 2013, loves.

10/26/2012 – #600

Hey y’all. A notable milestone has arisen, and so I wanted to bring it to your attention. This is my 600th blog post to Providential Life. In the past four years, I have shared with you 600 times. So thanks for sticking with me.

Today was as busy as yesterday, albeit with less Instagramming. I headed to Glendale to return a pizza stone, and ended up with oven mitts and Michelle Obama’s American Grown. Then I headed to Old Navy and got a LBD and some workout clothes, followed by Target for a new clock, soap dispenser, notebooks for my new job, and polka dotted CD holder (not actually what it was made for, but what I will use it for.)

After an active morning, I headed home (after lunch with Jeff) and settled in to catch up on Law & Order: SVU, update the scrapbook my girlfriends and I pass around (I know, ladies, be proud!) and generally lounged until Jeff and Corelyn showed up.

After that, there was an impromptu pizza night with Megan, Paul, Ryan,  Jeff, and Cor and I. Then, of course, Cor and I made a blue ombre cake for our photo shoot with Mary tomorrow (get excited!) and cut veggies for said photo shoot while Megan hung out and the boys played Mario. Which is how any night should be, if you ask me.

Happy Friday – here’s to the weekend!

8/10/12 – 8/13/12: #30dayspositive

8/10/12: taking a moment to enjoy the blue sky when picking Jeff up from work.

8/11/12: spontaneous trip to Hollywood Forever Cemetery to see Terminator.

8/12/12: shark week begins. decide to watch this with some close friends. 🙂

8/13/12: instead of ordering out, eating every vegetable left in my fridge. better for mind, body, soul, wallet.

#30dayspositive

One of my yoga teachers, who I am sure I’ve talked about before, is doing this thing called 30 Days Positive. You can learn about it here, but it’s basically about losing the negativity and finding positivity in each and every day. Here’s my first eight days.

8/2/2012 – day one: went to Shark Week 25th Anniversary party. Ate a cupcake.

8/3/2012 – day two: found this of nikki and me…guess I have to update this one!

8/4/2012 – day three: beach day for myself, including crosswords and MVY Radio.

8/5/2012 – day four: gluten free blueberry pie.

8/6/2012 – day five: Yesterday I lost my keys, forgot to put butter in my pie, and got a piece of plastic stuck in garbage disposal. Jeff got the plastic out, the pie was delicious, and the Farmer’s Market called to tell me they have my keys. #30dayspositive. Win.

8/7/2012 – day six: laundry = done.

8/8/2012 – day seven: taking time to feed Jeff and I right.

8/9/2012 – day eight: second night of homemade meals, this time, Summer Vegetable Pasta with goat cheese.
