Farmers' market.

Corelyn and I went to the Farmers’ market this weekend and scored on some excellent bounty. Potatoes (red, purple, and white), some tomatoes, basil (which I made into pesto), two huge heads of lettuce, lots of avocados, zucchini and summer squash, and some brussel sprouts.

Delicious. I filled my sink with some water, and let the lettuce and brussel sprouts sit for a while, shaking out the dirt.

Dream Post 13: Lifting a car

I had a dream:

I was in Jeff’s car, driving, and he was there, too. We were getting off a highway and onto an on-ramp, when I noticed the accelarator wasn’t working and we could only go 40 mph. There was a lot of traffic on the off-ramp, and I was worried I’d add to it by going slowly (I don’t know why this made logical sense) and so I got out of the car, with Jeff, and lifted the car to carry down the ramp. Then the ramp turned into a very steep staircase, but the kind that have no backs to the stairs, basically a cross between a staircase and a ladder. I was walking down it, carrying the car, and there were tons of people around, standing on each step/rung waiting their turn, like they were in traffic. I excused myself and cut them, because I was worried I wouldn’t be able to stop, and then I knocked a kid down a few steps by accident. So I lifted him up and threw him up to where he was before, and then kept going, all the while holding my car.

Then I woke up.

Steak ums.

I love steak ums, and last night I needed a quick dinner for Cor, Jeff, and I to eat between packing up Cor’s life. I don’t buy the packaged ones, I just make them as follows.

You need:

1 package thin steak (usually like 1.5 lbs. This is enough for 3-4 people, or roughly 2 women and 2 large hungry men)

1 package mushrooms (white are good)

1 onion (yellow or red or white)

some cheese (any kind)

1 french baguette

Saute the onion for about 2 minutes, then add mushrooms, continue to saute.

Cook the steak in a pan with some oil or Pam, add the cheese.

Cut the bread. Stick a piece of steak (or two!) on a section of bread, add sauteed mushrooms and onions. Maybe add some ketchup, and devour.

(We made smashed potatoes and green beans to go with it. Yum!)

Dream Post 12: Crashing Becca's car

So I had a dream the night before Cor called me to let me know she had crashed into the curb:

I was driving Becca’s car, and it was night time. There were children running around, and suddenly one ran straight in front of me so I swerved. I must have been going very fast, though, so I went up on the curb and flipped the car (she drives a large white SUV.) I ended up getting out, and the police came, and I tried to ask them to help me, but they didn’t believe I was the driver of the car for some reason, and kept telling me there was no child that had been in the road. I kept looking back at the car, and I knew I was hurt, but no one would help me because they thought I was lying.

Then, I woke up.
