Dream Post: A wedding, roller skates.

rollerskatesI had a dream:

I was at my friend Bec’s house, and we were getting ready for a wedding for one of her friends. We were getting dressed, and knew it was time to go to the wedding. So we headed to the church or the hall, which was very close to the house we were getting ready in, and I went over with my roller skates. That apparently I was OK at. Then there was an African American man who was standing in the middle of the street, who was very nice but apparently dangerous. He was talking to me without moving his mouth, so I thought he was telepathic with me, but apparently everyone could hear him. Very strange, indeed.

Then I got to the church and we were taking pictures of the bride alone, and we were all laughing, and I realized that my camera’s battery was dying. Then I realized the camera I was holding wasn’t even mine. So I went back to the house, on my roller skates, to get my camera. On the way back, I realized I was driving a car but I was in the passenger seat, so I went to climb over and drive and suddenly Jeff was in the car with me. He kept driving past the church, saying he forgot something, and he was driving to Hartford. I don’t know why I knew it was Hartford, but it was. Meanwhile, I guess the wedding must have been somewhere in Virgina, since that’s where Bec is from.

Then he kept saying he’d get us back to the church before the ceremony was over, and was explaining to me why he had to break up with me, and used the roller skates as an example.

Then I woke up.

Reasons? I have no idea. And, I must say that after such a dream dry spell, although these dreams are weird, it’s kind of nice to have them back.

Bicycle!

So Jeff bought me this shiny new toy for my birthday. It’s green. It shines. It has new brakes, an air pump, a removable basket, and some lights.

In short, it is fabulous. And today, I rode it home from work.

This, for me, was no small feat. I was sweaty when I arrived at the Metro station in Pasadena, because I have not ridden a bicycle in forever. I had to take the bike on two trains, taking elevators to both, and had to stand the entire time whilst on the train because I needed to hold up my bike. At least that meant I didn’t fall asleep on the train, though, like I normally do. Instead, I got to read my book and look cool, too ;).

All and all, a good first experience.

Jeff turns 25: A surprise party.

There are more pictures to come, which is a fave phrase around Providential Life’s blog. I am working on it. This week was crazy at work, and when I get home, after sitting in front of a computer for 8 hours, all I want to do is nap or sleep.

Jeff turned 25 this week. To celebrate, we had a party on Saturday night. Jeff, of course, didn’t know that it was happening. It happened like this. 1.) We were running late.

“SURPRISE” say all our friends

“Oh, hi guys. Look, they threw you a surprise party, Jen” says Jeff.

“Umm, no, this is for you.” says Corelyn.

“Oh, they threw US a surprise party!” says Jeff.

“No…I threw this party….for you.” says Jennie.

The end. He really did not understand until about 5 minutes later that the party was all about him, though.

And, despite the “25 drinks for 25 years” theme, no one got sick, and everyone enjoyed the pizza and alfredo.

Success.

More to come, lovelies. How was all of your weeks?

Terminator Salvation

terminatorsalvation

Jeff, Andrew, Cor and I went to see Terminator Salvation last night. I was worried I was going to cough and sneeze through the whole thing, but luckily it is an action movie, so it was VERY loud and thus not a problem when I did cough, anyways.

The movie was good, entertaining, and I love me some Christian Bale. I also liked the scenes when they were in L.A., because I know where they are even though L.A. is destroyed and I think that’s interesting. But, as Jeff pointed out at the end of the movie, there were some times in the movie when I was asked to suspend my disbelief that I just quite frankly could not suspend any further.

I won’t give anything away, and I think you should probably watch it at some point because the whole Terminator world is very interesting, but all I am saying is there were things that could have been explained better (aka times when the robots should have won and someone humans managed to out think or out race them.)

I did get milk duds, which I love, and a diet soda, however, so I can’t complain too much. Plus the whole future changes the past changes the future movie theme really appeals to me. All that’s left to do now is to see Terminator 3.

Memorial day weekend is this weekend, and Jeff and I are planning on doing a whole bunch of nothing. What are y’all up to??

The Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgement Day = bad decision?

t1

So last night, I got home from work and plopped down on the couch. I wanted to watch the episodes on On Demand of Ax Men, but instead, Jeff suggested I watched The Terminator to prepare myself for Terminator 4 that we’re going to see tonight.

So I do something I rarely do: I listened to Jeff, and sat down to watch a movie (that wasn’t about love and happiness) BY MYSELF (Jeff was out helping a client) and actually enjoyed it.

Jeff got home 3/4 of the way through the first one, and REALLY wanted to watch Terminator 2. By this time, it was nearly 8:30, so I agreed to watch an hour of Terminator 2. I could finish the rest today, of course. Right?

Wrong. Firstly, Terminator 2 wasn’t on Instant Netflix, which meant I had to wait for Jeff to run to Blockbuster (in Hollywood, how cliché) and THEN Cor and Andrew got home JUST IN TIME to join us. Which meant I was in it for the long haul. Of course, Jeff is a liar and said the movie was 1 hour and 45 minutes, when really it is 2 hours and 17 minutes. Corelyn cut out early, but I had to watch the whole thing. So, needless to say, it was around 11:45 when I got up from the couch, and declared, “Jeff, you’re driving me to work in the morning.”

Which he did. And he let me sleep on the way.

And I loved both movies, and I loved the story. What a fascinating idea– time travel, future controlled by robots, trying to change fate, and realizing it changes nothing at all? I wonder what people thought when they saw the original–it’s not like nowadays, when we’re begging for the sequels to STOP already, or when we know exactly how many movies they’ll be based on the book series that goes along with the movies. I wonder if people knew it’d still be going on, twenty five years later?

Still, I can’t help but wonder if my sneezy face and tiredness was a bad decision–I am going to be up watching Terminator 4 tonight.

Oh well, such is life.
